 ON INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day on Tuesday, President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Nari Shakti Puraskars on 29 outstanding individuals for  2020 and 2021. Twenty-eight awards -- 14 each for 2020 and 2021 -- were given to the women in recognition of their exceptional work towards women empowerment, especially the vulnerable and marginalised. The ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ is a Women and Child Development Ministry initiative to acknowledge exceptional contribution made by individuals and institutions, and to celebrate women as game-changers and catalysts of positive change in society. Its recipients are from fields such as entrepreneurship, agriculture, innovation, social work, education and literature, linguistics, arts and crafts, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), disability rights, merchant navy and wildlife conservation. Ramnath Kovind Ji Awarding Snakefriend Vanita Borade On the occasion of International Women’s Day, President Ram Nath Kovind presented 'Nari Shakti Puraskar' for years 2020 and 2021 to women from various fields at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 08. President awarded Nari Shakti Puraskar to Vanita Jagdeo Borade, the ‘first women snake rescuer’ and founder of SoyreVanchare Multipurpose Foundation for nature and wildlife protection and promoting a pollution-free environment.   Times Of India  Vanita Borade from Buldhana, who received the Nari Shakti award on Women's Day, has so far rescued more than 51,000 snakes and released them in their natural habitat. Her mission is to create scientific awareness about the reptiles among the young generation. She has trained more than 25000 girls to become sarpamitra's Nagpur: As a young girl living in Naigaon (Deshmukh) village of Mehkar tehsil of Buldhana, Vanita Borade used to see fishermen fearlessly sorting. out water snakes from their fishing net and throwing them back into the lake. While wandering in the hills and forests with the Gond, Bhill, Korku and Banjara children, she used to observe them catching snakes, crabs and many other creatures fearlessly.
